Peru’s Colca Canyon: a photo story

I had never even heard of the Colca Canyon before I started planning my two week Peru itinerary, which is absolutely crazy as it’s gorgeous. It lies around 4/5 hours from the pretty city of Arequipa and definitely doesn’t get the credit it deserves, and turned out I actually way preferred the Colca Canyon to Machu Picchu in the end. <3

If you’re planning on heading there (which you should by the way), there are multiple ways to see it, most of which need to be booked as a tour / trip via a travel agency in Arequipa. The main (and probably best way) is to hike, either by doing a 2, 3 or 4 night trip. If you’re not much of a hiker like me, you can opt to take either a full day tour or a 2 day 1 night tour. I took the 2 day 1 night tour with Colonial Tours and booked the day before in the city for 100 soles, however all agencies are selling near enough the same thing.  I would definitely recommend either a hike or the 2 day 1 night trip in order to see the most you can.  🙂

These pictures are beautiful!!! Visited Peru in 2016 but it was a quick trip; missed a lot. Planning on going back in the upcoming year, will add this to my list.
