I don’t know about you, but whenever I visit a new destination I spend hours researching the best things to do, coolest places to visit and the prettiest bars / cafes / brunch spots. Usually the first things that pop up just aren’t what I’m about – a stream of walking tour ideas, historic monuments, museums, various sports grounds etc…and this stuff is exactly what popped up when I starting googling places to visit in Manchester. ugh no thanks, call me uncultured but I’d rather watch paint dry.
I recently returned from a weekend in Manchester, and although it rained a little (actually a lot…Manchester sort your shit out) I had a really good time. So much so that even though I’ve always vowed never to live anywhere other than London when I’m in the UK, I could actually see myself living up there…and I don’t say that about many places (sorry mum).
Gillray’s serves wines, champagnes and beers, but it is the gin cocktails you really want to be ordering. The cocktail menu is unlike any other – rather than a list of run of the mill cocktails on the menu, each individually created cocktail has a historical link to 18th Century caricaturist James Gillray, and each one is inspired by his work.
